LAZY FARMER

Description

Get ready for a reissue of the legendary folk album by Wizz Jones, “Lazy Farmer”. Wizz, who sadly passed away in April 2025, continued to play until weeks before his death. An original beatnik and hippie, he influenced Keith Richards and Eric Clapton, who went to his concerts and studied his finger-picking. A contemporary of Ralph McTell, Wizz Jones stood out for his acoustic guitar skills and for the length of his hair. He was a key figure on the European folk circuit, and he had a particularly loyal following in Germany, where Lazy Farmer was recorded. The Lazy Farmer lineup was inspired by the book Old-Time Fiddle Tunes For Banjo, written by John Burke and published in 1968. The album is entirely dedicated to Burke, and features Wizz Jones on acoustic guitar and vocals, his wife Sandy Jones on banjo and vocals, former C.O.B (British folk hero Clive Palmer's Original Band) and former student John Bidwell on penny whistle, flute, guitar and vocals, Jake Walton on guitar, dulcimer, hurdy-gurdy and vocals, and Don Coging on banjo.
