Dancing Queen - Rameau meets ABBA
Description
The latest album by Lautten Compagney Berlin presents an extraordinary fusion of baroque elegance and pop brilliance, bringing together the works of Jean-Philippe Rameau and the timeless hits of ABBA. Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683-1764), a key figure of French baroque music, is celebrated here for his innovative approach to harmony and his dynamic use of dance rhythms. The legendary and timeless hits of ABBA, known for their meticulous production and global appeal, have been rearranged for this album for a special ensemble of instruments from Lautten Compagney Berlin by Bo Wiget, the ensemble's cellist. Saxophonist Asya Fateyeva masterfully translates the emotional depth and expressive power of ABBA's iconic vocal lines onto the saxophone, adding a new dimension to the album and enriching its innovative blend of historical and modern sounds. "Dancing Queen" offers a captivating listening experience for fans of baroque music and ABBA, where the rich textures of baroque music and the contagious energy of pop intersect, creating a dialogue between two distinct musical eras. Concerts with this program have already received exceptional reviews: "ABBA on gut strings, Rameau with the saxophone - it works beautifully! Lautten Compagney Berlin and Asya Fateyeva have brought it all together: the saxophone and very old instruments, the master of French baroque and the Swedish pop icons, all superstars of their time, all calling to dance. When you have a saxophonist who plays with a subtle, linear, and unpretentious tone, and when you have arrangements of pop hits that sparkle with so much wit, it works wonderfully. Arranging ABBA's music for baroque instruments was the responsibility of Lautten Compagney's cellist, Swiss musician Bo Wiget. High praise for that! Two lutes, a baroque harp, a chamber organ, a drum set - that's how the intro to ABBA's 'Voulez-Vous' was delicately arranged, while 'Take a Chance on Me' took an almost noise-based, extremely original approach with a jaw harp and two baroque violins that sounded like yodelers, complemented by slap-tongue effects on the saxophone. A fantastic atmosphere right to the end!"Buy Dancing Queen - Rameau meets ABBA at the best price
