Legendary pianist, Leopold Godowsky (1870-1938) left an immense catalog rich in over 400 pieces, more than half of which are transcriptions, arrangements, or paraphrases for the piano. This recording offers an eclectic overview of the art of transcription in Godowsky through his most beautiful achievements. Like Liszt, the original work is a pretext for inspiration: it is deeply reworked and with great freedom. His devotion to the great composers of the past was immense, and it is with much respect, taste, and style that he created his adaptations, the ultimate goal always being primarily musical.
