This double album features Farrenc's symphonies 1 and 3, already released in 2021 on Erato, along with the addition of symphony no. 2 and overtures no. 1 & 2. Farrenc (1804-1875) was a prominent figure in 19th century Paris, a pioneer both as a composer and as a remarkable symphonist in a city obsessed at the time with opera. The composer Louise Farrenc was the first woman professor at the Conservatoire de Paris.
