This new release explores further treasures from the two volumes of Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier, arranged for a consort of viols by director Laurence Dreyfus. Reimagining Bach's keyboard polyphony for consort music has the dual advantage of expanding Bach's chamber works while giving these beloved pieces a fresh appearance of jewels never heard before, ripe for discovery. Despite its pedagogical origins, Bach's musical imagination fills the Well-Tempered Clavier with intellectually complex fugues and preludes overflowing with dancing melodies.
