Chandos artist Laura van der Heijden, making her debut on the label, explores the rich musical heritage of Bohemia. Laura tells us: "Jâms and I first met in 2017, and I was mesmerized by his musicality. Our first concert together took place in the summer of 2018 and included Janáček's Pohádka. We both felt incredibly drawn to this piece and also to Janáček's musical language. One of the reasons we were particularly captivated by Pohádka (a Czech word that loosely translates to 'a tale') was the emphasis the piece places on storytelling and how it invites us to let our creativity and imagination express themselves.
