Anton Zimmermann, born in Breitnau (now in the Czech Republic), received his musical education in his native region and arrived in Pressburg in the early 1770s. His most famous works are the symphonies in D major, C major, and F major, as well as the string quartets in C major, F major, and G major. They were performed at important events in Pressburg. The diversity of instrumentation in his works testifies to the high level of the orchestras of the time and the influence of eminent musicians on his compositions.
