Between classical and jazz, Lars Danielsson shares the best of both worlds
Lars Danielsson, a pillar of the ACT label, is one of the most respected cellists, double bassists, producers, and arrangers on the European music scene. With his double album "Symphonized," he realizes a dream. Some of the musicians of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra were his contemporaries at the conservatory. The idea of a "best-of" project with pieces from the Liberetto band in orchestral form was born. A full 79-member orchestra and guest soloists were involved, with Peter Nordahl conducting both recordings. Nordahl has made a specialty of projects that combine classical and popular music. For Lars Danielsson, the challenge is to use the orchestra in a way that leaves organic space for solo instruments. Melody, flow, and emotion are central elements of his art. "My music must be interesting for the performers who play it. They must have fun with my compositions. Writing melodies and then hearing them performed by the musicians of an orchestra is totally magical."
