The Baptismal project came to life when Kramer invited Laraaji to collaborate on a project. The two artists have been friends for 40 years; they met in New York in the 80s and have always wanted to make an album together. In a world where listeners' minds are occupied by dominant mainstream media, Laraaji had the idea of a baptism, a type of immersive album in which the listener would become fully present in the music. The process was entirely done by sharing files online: Laraaji would send Kramer harp-centered music pieces, and Kramer would complete the pieces with drones and send them back to Laraaji. Soon, they had enough content to finish the album, with Laraaji playing keyboards, harp, and adding his vocals to it all. They had no physical contact throughout the entire project.
