Bach’s Goldberg Variations represent one of the most acclaimed masterpieces in the history of classical music. Lang Lang has been exploring them for over twenty years and presents this album as the result of a long personal journey. This marks a completely new stage in the pianist’s artistic development: the project of a lifetime. Alongside a studio recording, this album also features a contrasting performance resulting from a single take of the recital in the iconic St. Thomas Church in Leipzig, where Bach also worked. The pianist says: “It is not only the most exceptional work in the keyboard repertoire, but also the most multidimensional.
