The idea of gathering so many Ave Marias came from a real question I have often asked myself: I am frequently asked to "sing the Ave Maria" for weddings or other important moments in people's lives. And each time, I wonder internally: yes, but which one? This is how this album was born: as an answer to that question, or rather a beginning of an answer, because the repertoire is immense! The text of Ave Maria has inspired hundreds of composers and continues to do so. This program takes us on a great journey through time: we discover how each era, each style has appropriated the text and made it resonate differently. Four major stages punctuate this journey, each concluded by the other great Christian prayer, the Our Father, in German, French, Russian, and Latin.
