The fascinating and exuberant Argentine, La Yegros, probably the most magnetic artist on the South American continent, returns with a new album “HAZ”.
Crowned queen of nu-cumbia, La Yegros has not rested on her laurels. Surrounded by the same accomplices who have supported her for about ten years, but eager to renew herself, she has dedicated herself to recording her fourth album, which stands out in her discography. Although her personal folklore is still rooted in South American popular expressions, La Yegros now absorbs global contemporary music, while addressing intimate, often melancholic or even painful subjects, which she overcomes with the same energy that drives her in concert. Nothing hinders the Argentine tornado, all the more exciting as personal considerations now surface beneath the veneer of the festive atmospheres she ignites.
The album is open to all winds. One can hear a funk guitar as well as Andean flutes, the melancholy of the accordion and the rolling of drums, a Tuareg blues enhanced with brass, house or electro-cumbia loops, the bassoons of a chamber orchestration. La Yegros' 2.0 folklore, nourished by her colorful inspiration, sometimes tender or exalted, has been conceived as an anthem to love and the contradictory feelings that manifest within it. As always, it has also been designed with the stage in mind. Born in a storm of overturned emotions, the album constitutes a mixture all the more explosive as the live performance that accompanies it has been strengthened. In addition to the usual setup with guitar, accordion, and percussion, a musician handles synthesizers and machines to boost the electronic turbo engine. One can, in any case, count on the singer to assert an increasingly sharp character as projects progress. And to not let go of anything. La Yegros is back and her batteries are fully charged!
