The warm and colorful Spain of Luigi Boccherini!Luigi Boccherini was an exceptional cellist and composed over a hundred works for his instrument. Cellist Josetxu Obregón and his ensemble La Ritirata have selected four string quintets by Boccherini for this new album "Fandango". Quintet No. 77, which in the second movement takes up the rhythm of the popular Spanish dance and requires the cellist to play castanets. But Boccherini also translated his Spanish impressions into music: in Quintet No. 60, nightlife in the streets of Madrid is depicted with numerous sound impressions, such as church bells, marching soldiers, and street singers. Quintet No. 12 takes us to the royal aviary with bird songs and chirping. Images and colors abound in warm and rich music.
