Sei terzettini opus 47

Description

Few musicians have this passionate practice, made of experience and intuition, of the music of Luigi Boccherini! Primus inter pares, Emilio Moreno has long offered us performances that are models of knowledge and sensitivity. With his ensemble La Real Camara, and for his seventh Glossa recording of Boccherini works, Moreno chooses the three string trios or terzettini opus 47 - violin, viola and cello, an unusual formation in Boccherini - dating from the period of the composer’s high maturity in his dual role as composer and cellist. We are in 1793, Boccherini has just celebrated his 50th birthday: he has been in Madrid for 7 years - after the death of his main patron, the Infante Don Luis de Borbón - where he is multiplying his activities as composer (these opus 47 trios are dedicated to the new patron, the King of Prussia), cellist and conductor of several private orchestras then flourishing in the capital of Spain. His style matures, gains in tension and intensity while his expressiveness borders on Romanticism. For several decades, Moreno has been performing the chamber music of "Don Luis Boquerini" with many exceptional musicians. Here he is alongside two famous colleagues and friends from Japan (where the recording was made, in Saitama): violinist Natsumi Wakamatsu and cellist Hidemi Suzuki. In his essay, both charming and enlightening, which accompanies this disc, Emilio Moreno judiciously prepares us to listen to this marvel.
