« Calypso & Ulysse » is the Breton group’s third album. Between the nonchalance of a Stanley Beckford, the sonic textures of Brazilian Flavia Coelho and the Mediterranean songs of Moussu T e lei Jovents, La Petite Semaine anchors in this new album its approach to a modern and mixed song.
Drawn from his travel journals, Vincent Prémel sketches his songs in black and white before Sylvain Caremel and Nicolas Chatalain come to paint them and color them with shades from here and elsewhere. The process resolutely leads the group toward world music.
In « Calypso & Ulysse », La Petite Semaine sings above all of hope and claims a popular and functional music, music to forget sorrows and daily difficulties. With this new album, the group asserts itself and develops its vision of a cosmopolitan world open to others. No doubt, « we give up nothing, we create bonds! »
