Anyone who believes that everything that has already been said about the Brandenburg Concertos will be disproved by this recording, and even those who think they have always listened to the concertos on historically correct instruments will be disproved by this recording. As a rule, the trumpet and horn parts are played on instruments without keys or valves, but these have a modern aid: bores that make playing the delicate passages much easier. For his recording, Sigiswald Kuijken uses pure natural instruments, without the semi-modern auxiliary bores. The result is entirely convincing and once again highlights the talent of Kuijken and his ensemble La Petite Bande.
