"My name is Karine Guignard aka La Gale, born in Switzerland to a Vaudois father and a Lebanese mother. I listened to music before I was born, I played in two punk bands in my younger years, I am a stage technician, I organize concerts, and I also run writing workshops for kids in local schools. I have been rapping since 2006 on stage alongside my buddy Rynox or Malikah, a virulent MC based between Beirut and Dubai. I have a hundred concerts to my name, about twenty radio sessions, a few TV appearances, and some features on mixtapes. I coordinated and participated as an MC in the creation of the album Gaza Meets Geneva, a record recorded between Lausanne, Geneva, and Gaza with Swiss and Palestinian rappers. I play the lead role (Nejma) in the TV film 'De l'Encre' by Hamé and Ekoué of the group La Rumeur, alongside Beatrice Dalle and Reda Kateb. The productions on my first album are entirely done by Christian, drummer for Honey for Petzi and member of the group Larytta. The beats are heavy but they groove well, my lyrics are relatively virulent, but at the same time I don't rap to please everyone. The themes of my lyrics deal with social control in general, my Arab origins and what follows from that, the politics of my country, sleepless nights, and tattoos.
