Krzysztof Meisinger is one of the most fascinating and charismatic classical guitarists of our time. Born in 1984, his artistic development has benefited from the immense influence of teachers and musical authorities such as Aniello Desiderio (Italy) and Christopher Parkening (USA), his talent being compared to that of pianist Piotr Anderszewski and his fellow guitarist Pepe Romero. He has performed all over the world - from Tokyo to Los Angeles and Buenos Aires - in venues such as the Wiener Musikverein, the Berliner Philharmonie, Wigmore Hall in London and the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. For his debut on Chandos, he chose a varied programme of Spanish, Italian and Argentine works that demonstrate both his technical mastery and his innate musical sense. Invocación y danza and Elogio de la guitarra by Rodrigo were composed a decade apart, and written respectively for the guitarists Regino Sainz de la Maza and Angelo Gilardino. Miguel Llobet Solés was a pupil of Tárrega and Segovia's teacher, thus playing an important role in the Spanish guitar tradition. Segovia was the dedicatee of Castelnuovo-Tedesco's Capriccio diabolico, a tribute to Paganini. Although many of Piazzolla's pieces have been arranged for guitar, his Cinco Piezas, published in 1981, are the only works he wrote specifically for this instrument. Krzysztof Meisinger plays on a copy of an Ignacio Fleta Pescador (1897 - 1977) guitar, built by Anders Sterner and fitted with Knobloch strings.
