Kool And The Gang had two lives. In 1979, the band was nearly dead, on life support, out of fashion. The jazz-funk specialty of the group was no longer selling, and the top of the charts was far away. The band then hired J.T. Taylor as a singer and a new producer, Eumir Deodato, to revitalize their music. In 1979, the chemistry worked, and the band resumed its forward momentum with "Ladies Night." The hits followed one after another! Then came "Too Hot" and finally the megahit "Celebration." This compilation traces that period with 18 tracks, from "Fresh" to "Cherish," including the very Tarantino-esque "Jungle Boogie." Let’s not forget that in 1970, Kool And The Gang was simply the best jazz-funk band.
