KOMPROMAT is the collaboration between Vitalic and Rebeka Warrior (Sexy Sushi, Mansfield.TYA). Their first album, Traum und Existenz, released in 2019 on Clivage Music (Vitalic's label), laid the groundwork for a dark and impactful universe. In January 2025, they return with PLAYING / PRAYING on Warriorecords, a label founded by Rebeka Warrior. This new record explores themes such as prayer (pagan or otherwise), funeral rites, transitions between different worlds, as well as the pleasures of the flesh, dance, and ecstasy – like a divine invocation through music. The genres blend: EBM, Cold Wave, New Wave, and radical techno. The duo enjoys blurring the boundaries. Where German accompanied the first album, this time it is English that carries their new stories. The album is also inhabited by voices close to the group: Vimala Pons and Sonia DeVille appear as echoes from other worlds. From the very first track, I LET MYSELF GO BLIND, we are invited to let ourselves be carried away, eyes closed, ready to let go of everything. I DID NOT FORGET YOU, written with Rahim Redcar (ex Christine and the Queens), speaks of loss and memory in a universal way. Another feature, this time with London artist Farah, GOD IS ON MY SIDE is a very long, very atmospheric track, a form of trance that invites you to slide into the beyond. PLAYING / PRAYING also includes tracks made for the body: LIFT ME UP is an anthem of pleasure, both sensual and crafted for the dance floors. ONLY IN YOUR ARMS, on the other hand, makes you lose your footing with its intoxicating arpeggios. The mixing by Stéphane Alf Briat (Air, Flavien Berger, La Femme) gives the whole an organic dimension, merging saturated voices and synthetic sounds. On the visual side, Théo Mercier and Erwan Fichou, loyal collaborators of the group, draw inspiration this time from Jean Cocteau's film Orphée, creating a visual universe with strong symbolism, both minimalist and profound. KOMPROMAT will be touring across France and Europe.
