Lords of the Fallen

HEXWORKS and CI Games have partnered with Laced Records to release the soundtrack to the action-RPG Lords of the Fallen (2023) on deluxe vinyl. The music has been meticulously mastered for vinyl and will be pressed onto heavyweight records housed in sleeves featuring artwork by HEXWORKS’ art team. The Lords of the Fallen soundtrack is a sumptuously recorded dark fantasy masterpiece drawing inspiration from the melodrama of romantic opera, the requiem masses of Mozart et al., the dissonant struggles of 20th century modernist classical music, and grand horror film scores. Compositional duties were split between multi-award-winning composers Cris Velasco and Knut Avenstroup Haugen to help achieve unique timbres for each of the game’s factions and realms. Music for the Rhogar faction (Velasco) is raw and violent, featuring guttural vocalisations, low-pitched instrumentation, and processed human breaths used as a rhythmic device. Avenstroup Haugen was assigned the score for the Radiant/Adyr factions, whose themes are broader and evoke fervent worship with sinister undertones. Most live-recorded elements were performed by the Budapest Scoring Orchestra and Choir. Vocal soloists include soprano Eurielle and contralto Jess Dandy. The London Symphony Orchestra’s principal cellist, David Cohen, was enlisted to convey the melancholy of the Axiom world. Keen-eared listeners may recognise the distinct sound of flautist Tony Hinnigan, who has performed on some of Hollywood’s biggest scores (Titanic, Avatar).
