Six years have passed since the last album by the Swiss duo Klaus Johann Grobe, Du bist so symmetrisch (2018), and you can tell they have come a long way. Io tu il loro is their fourth album for Trouble In Mind Records, the Chicago label. It’s an album with a blurry vision and soft boundaries. Here are nine tracks full of warmth, so welcoming and melancholic that you don’t know whether to smile or cry. Some will say it’s timeless, others that it’s dad rock… in any case, it’s not disco for the masses. So, no disco? No syncopated synths? No German? No reverb? Where is the Grobe? Take your time, you’ll notice it hasn’t disappeared; it has just taken a turn before rolling into another unknown.
