Before becoming stars of the indie scene with their bands Rodan, June of 44, Rachel's and Shipping News, Jason Noble and Jeff Mueller were rap stars. At least, in Kentucky. More precisely, in Louisville. With their friend Greg King (King G), a RUN DMC fanatic, drum machine owner and player of Herbie Hancock’s “Rockit” on a Yamaha DX21, the three friends formed the band King G & The J Krew while they were still in high school. “Indestructible Songs Of The Humpback Whale” was their masterpiece. Released on CD in 1992, the album brought together other emblematic figures from the Louisville scene: Tim Furnish (Crain), Drew Daniel (Matmos), Ben Daughtrey (Squirrel Bait), Heather Cantrell (Drinking Woman) and Tara Jane O'Neil (Rodan, Sonora Pine). The band split up in 1993, with Jeff and Jason joining forces to form the indie band Rodan. First vinyl edition. Limited edition black vinyl, gatefold sleeve, with a 16-page booklet tracing the band’s history.
