On King Diamond's eighth concept album, the prolific horror rocker tells the story of Voodoo. Set in New Orleans, the plot is full of witchcraft, haunted houses, and ghosts. The music remains true to form; Diamond's almost comically guttural vocals have lost none of their bite, the faithful Andy LaRocque maintains a high level of guitar mastery, and the band, in general, delivers high-flying performances. Overall, King Diamond achieves the musical equivalent of classic 1960s Hammer horror films.
