Everything started with a vision, that of a multicultural carnival without stylistic limitations, the vision of a colorful theater with different characters, overflowing with joy of life, humor, irony, and sophistication. Kid Creole & The Coconuts were created in the early 80s by August Darnell, who had already found success with Dr. Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band or Machine. However, with his alter ego Kid Creole, he unleashed his creativity to the fullest.
After their performance on June 3, 1982, at the Satory-Säle in Cologne, it was the magical nights of October 16 and 17 at the Grugahalle in Essen that made the group known in Europe. The group, which has just released its 3rd album, is at its peak and performs hits such as "Annie, I’m Not Your Daddy," "Stool Pigeon," or "I’m A Wonderful Thing Baby." The concerts were such a success that the following dates had to be moved to venues four times larger. Overnight, Darnell's vision had become reality!
