Khalil Chahine, his name may ring a bell, recognized as an excellent composer of film scores (Mr Batignole, Venus Beauté Institut, etc.) or stage works (Paris Plume, les aventures du prince Ahmed, etc.) “Kairos” is Khalil Chahine’s 6th album, by a composer who also excels in instrumental technique (guitar, mandolin and harmonica). We are faced with bold, intelligent music that enchants the listener right from the very first track (titled “Le Mage”). You let yourself be carried away as if in a book or a film, traveling through Khalil Chahine’s inner worlds, worlds magnificently served as well by the musicians taking part in the adventure: our friend Kevin Reveyrand on double bass, pianist Frédéric Gaillardet with his so delicate playing, the highly inspired saxophonist Eric Seva and the subtle drumming of Nicolas Filiatreau. This album belongs among those little wonders that, in general, can be counted on the fingers of one hand each year! Remarkable compositions that, over 11 tracks, blow your mind with a complex musical architecture and leave you in a state of incomparable joy and happiness. It is unquestionably one of the standout albums of the 2013 autumn season and will certainly deserve all the attention of the specialist media!
