The solo project of Irish singer Kevin Twomey (founder and frontman of Bigger) was born from a meeting with guitarist Guillaume Amoureux. Combining Kevin’s precise artistic direction and Guillaume’s sparkling ideas, the collaboration takes on a new freshness. It is with the idea not of conquering the world, but more naively of sharing it better, that the two musicians conceived the project. Rediscovering a simple and sensitive essence, while keeping a hint of eccentricity. Bound by a shared attraction to folk artists such as Kevin Morby, Eliott Smith, Mac de Marco and particularly inspired by Beck’s album Sea Change, they come together in a small studio to create their first songs. The music that emerges is recorded with a few microphones, a laptop, an old acoustic guitar, a bass... and washed down with warm beer and mint tea. From this first session, five ballads blossom into an EP under the name Bloom Room, mixed and mastered by Jim Spencer. The tracks intertwine gentle acoustic guitar riffs and offbeat lyrics born of very late-night conversations... A (technical) process perfectly illustrated by Womb with a view, the first song to be released, whose title reflects a slip of the tongue by Kevin’s father late in the evening. The second single, By my side, evokes those nights of insomnia and doubt that hinder personal projects. Live, the band takes the form of a trio made up of Kevin on guitar and vocals, Guillaume on mellotron and acoustic guitar, and Philippe Lapierre on drums and saxophone. Their sound is textured, melodic and intimate, sometimes massive and powerful, but always authentic!
