The multifaceted artist KEVIN OLUSOLA, known as one of the five members of the multi-platinum a cappella group Pentatonix, releases his debut solo album, DAWN OF A MISFIT, via Sony Music Masterworks. This album serves as a roadmap to Olusola’s career. When he felt the call to become a professional musician at the age of 20, Olusola had not yet discovered his true calling. In recording this album, everything became clear. Olusola’s passion shines through in an impressive combination of powerful vocals, heartfelt compositions, beatboxing, cello playing, and production. He has found the perfect balance between classical musical virtuosity and modern melodies, partly fueled by his Nigerian and Grenadian roots. The album features tracks such as "DARK WINTER," which combines the symphonic strings of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons with powerful percussive beatboxing; "HALLELUJAH," a striking example of Olusola’s ability to blend classical, pop, and hip-hop elements around Handel’s Messiah; "SMILE," an uplifting track that showcases the purity of Olusola’s voice and his signature beatboxing over Bach’s famous Cello Suites; "CRAZY," a reinterpretation of Gnarls Barkley’s 2006 hit that transforms the song into a powerful, dark, cinematic instrumental, revealing Olusola’s feelings of being misunderstood; and ends with "KEVIN'S FIFTH," a fan favorite and a reinterpretation of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, often performed during Pentatonix concerts.
