Description

The new stars of Gondwana are Kessoncoda from West London, aka drummer Tom Sunney and keyboardist Fil Sowa. Between acoustic tradition and electronica, they are based on a unique blend of melodic ostinato piano and unwavering drums. Drawing on their varied musical interests, Fil and Tom are inspired by rock, electro, ambient, breakbeat, and soundtracks from films and artists such as Squarepusher, Radiohead, and Clark all hosted in their unique studio, a shed at the back of Tom's garden.
Like former and current colleagues of the Gondwana Records label, such as GoGo Penguin and Portico Quartet, there is something strongly cinematic about Kessoncoda's music, like a narrative unfolding through different themes and moods, with a ebb and flow of intensity, as well as waves of breathtaking melody that ultimately resolve into a wonderful climax.
It is the perfect union of complementary personalities that gives Kessoncoda their unique dynamism.
