Kerson Leong, first prize at the Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition in 2010, and Jonathan Fournel, winner of the Queen Elisabeth International Grand Prize in 2021, have each recorded several albums for Alpha Classics. Longtime friends and collaborators, they come together around Fauré: "his music evokes in me images of night, shimmering water, consolation. He is one of the composers I return to most often for comfort," says Kerson. Jonathan continues: "his writing expresses something deeply human." They have chosen to record his two sonatas for violin and piano — written at the two ends of his career — as well as a selection of transcriptions of melodies and short pieces, such as the famous Berceaux, Clair de lune, Après un rêve, Soir....
