Danse macabre

Description

The conductor Kent Nagano conducts some of the greatest masterpieces composed on the theme of the macabre, including Rimsky-Korsakov's orchestration of Mussorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain and Dukas' The Sorcerer's Apprentice, made famous by Disney's Fantasia soundtrack. Rarer compositions are also featured in this album, such as Balakirev's symphonic poem Tamara and Hallowe'en, the first part of the triptych Three Outdoor Scenes composed by Charles Ives. Danse Macabre is the second recording on the Decca Classics label by Kent Nagano as the director of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. Having established itself as a supreme reference for audiophiles, this relationship is fulfilled in an innovative and unusual repertoire since its inception with the first CD release of Honegger/Ibert's L'Aiglon last March.
