No end

Description

Enregistred in his own studio in 1986, No End reveals aspects to this day unknown of Keith Jarrett's music. He improvises here on electric guitar, bass, drums, and percussion, recording in overdub "tribal dances" of his own invention. "Something happened during this period of the 80s that has never happened again," Jarrett comments. "There has never been, to my knowledge, any premeditation or 'compositional' ambition (in the classical sense) in this project. I let myself go with my moods from ideas of rhythm, a bass line, or a simple melody. But nothing was written." Regarding the instrumentation: "Drums have always been a part of my life in one way or another. I have always been drawn to instruments whose sound reaches us directly, without the filter of a mechanism. Therefore, I think I have never loved the piano as much as the drums or even the guitar." With, mainly, these instruments (the piano making only brief appearances here), Jarrett has shaped one of his most exceptional albums.
