Meeting a fascinating Schubertian, Katya Apekisheva!This recital brings together three late piano cycles by Franz Schubert, emblematic of his intimate, lyrical, and deeply nuanced writing. At the heart of the program are the Six Moments musicaux D.780, framed by the Allegretto in C minor D.915 and the Drei Klavierstücke D.946, composed during the composer's final year. The Moments musicaux unfold a rich expressive palette, where simplicity meets shadow, and where major and minor keys respond to each other in a subtle tension. The Allegretto D.915, written like a farewell, touches with its poignant restraint. The Drei Klavierstücke, published after Schubert's death, evoke inhabited impromptus, blending inner agitation with moments of pure light. A lifelong musical companion for Katya Apekisheva, Schubert is here approached in a personal and mature interpretation, recorded on a Steinway Model D at Syde Manor, in service of an inner and deeply expressive vision of these major works.
