Les enfants terribles

Description

Katia & Marielle Labèque are known for the fusion and energy of their duo, pursuing a dazzling career all around the world, defending both the classical repertoire and contemporary creation. After working with Olivier Messiaen, Luciano Berio, Gyorgy Ligeti, Pierre Boulez, in recent years, they have continued to create pieces written especially for them by Louis Andriessen, Philip Glass, Bryce Dessner, Thom Yorke, and soon Nico Muhly. The music of Philip Glass holds a special place in the creation of Katia & Marielle Labèque, who are already dedicataires of his concerto for two pianos. It is the composer himself who chose to adapt for them his opera "Les Enfants Terribles," based on the work of Jean Cocteau, into a suite for two pianos, entrusting the adaptation to Michael Riesman, his collaborator and long-time arranger. The album where the works of Jean Cocteau and Philip Glass confront each other has been visualized by Ronan Day-Lewis, who deeply connects the subject of two lost souls isolated in the creation of their world.
