Air music (tales of flying creatures and heavenly breezes)
Description
'La Capella de la Torre' is considered "one of the most prolific and creative ensembles of the Renaissance" (rbb Kulturradio) of our time. For their recordings with Deutsche Harmonia Mundi, the musicians under conductor Katharina Bäuml have received numerous awards worldwide, including: among others, an Opus Klassik for the recording "Una Serata Venexiana" as well as an ECHO Klassik as "Ensemble of the Year" for their first album of elements "Wasser Musik". The second album of the "Fire Music" series has also received fantastic reviews. Now, 'Capella de la Torre' continues its musical activity with "Four Elements" featuring the album "Air Music". The musicians have performed fascinating works by composers such as Claudio Monteverdi, Michael Praetorius, Thomas Ravenscroft, and Anthony Holborne, but also by unknown composers. The instrumental and vocal pieces from the 15th to the early 17th century are showcased and all revolve around divine winds, mythical and feathered beings. In the first chapter, "Gone with the Wind" is sung, the "West Winds" by English Renaissance composers such as John Sheppard (Missa 'The Western Wynde': Gloria) and Thomas Campion (The Pacific West Wind). The second chapter is dedicated to breath and finds its echo in the works of Holborne (Galliard: The Sighes/ Les Soupirs), Ludwig Senfl (Laudate dominum omnes gentes), and Monteverdi (Dolci miei sospiri). The habitat of winged beings turns out to be the third chapter in which, among other things, canaries (Thoinot Arbeau / Praetorius: Canaries), the nightingale (Monteverdi: Dolcissimo uscignolo), but also an angel (Luca Marenzio: Nuova angioletta sovra l'ale accorta) are sung in the passages. In the chapter "Winds Brides," Aura, the Greek goddess of the morning breeze, also appears (Girolamo Frescobaldi: Se l'aura spira tutta vezzosa), before concluding with "Luftschlösser/Châteaux dans l'air" from the pen of Holborne (Pavana), Cipriano de Rore (Nell'aria in questi di), and Pierre de la Rue (As Time Goes By). Another varied and rich recording full of discoveries!Buy Air music (tales of flying creatures and heavenly breezes) at the best price
