Patkop Say

Description

For this second album for Alpha Classics (after ALPHA885), Patricia Kopatchinskaja and Fazil Say are not only an extraordinary duo of performers, they are also composers. They have recorded Szymanowski’s magnificent Mythes and Prokofiev’s sonata, written between 1938 and 1946 under the violence and fear of war and the Soviet regime - “Every note also says something about our time,” Kopatchinskaja points out… but it is Say’s sonata Lost Screams that opens this program, written for Patricia Kopatchinskaja: “it embodies the struggles, fears and silent protests of our time,” explains Fazil Say. Patkop’s UniSolo closes the album: she wanted to create a musical process without knowing its outcome: “At the beginning, everything revolves around the note A – From there situations develop that surprised even me,” explains Kopatchinskaja, who concludes: “Composition opens the ears and makes reverential fear disappear. I feel freer and perceive the pieces as living beings with whom I dialogue throughout my life.”
