The Line Is A Curve is about letting go. The main idea of the album is that the pressures we face do not always have to be heavy burdens, but can be redefined; the more a person is under pressure, the greater the possibility of liberation. The album unfolds like a chronicle, the exhausting pursuit of a comfortable life, the eternal desire for more, the malaise of the city, the country, the times. The anxieties related to maintaining relationships, battling illness, addiction, mental health, the empty life of our online "self." However, as we progress through these chronicles, the mood brightens. The musicality becomes more expansive, the lyrical horizon widens, and we catch glimpses of coastlines, streets, scrapyards, train stations in the rain; the entire album begins to let go. We are swept away by the artists who collaborated on the album and whom Kae Tempest loves and admires, singers, and instrumentalists. Thus, we shed the feeling of isolation experienced in the opening track to discover a deeply connected sense of community.
