Love Ain't Nothin But A Business Goin On

Description

The blues singer, harmonica player, and songwriter Junior Parker (aka Little Junior Parker), born in Mississippi and based in Memphis, had a brilliant musical career. Since the early 1950s, he released records on labels such as Duke, Mercury, United Artists Records, and many others. Originally released under an alternate title a year before his untimely death, Love Ain't Nothin' But a Business Goin' On is steeped in Junior Parker's characteristic smooth voice and soul grooves. The album also includes three Beatles covers: Taxman, Lady Madonna, and Tomorrow Never Knows. For Taxman, Parker completely reinvents the track by steering it toward a funky New Orleans-influenced universe, an excerpt of which was sampled as the main melodic line in Cypress Hill's classic I Wanna Get High.
