Description

While I was a student at the Conservatory of Cannes, I began to want to explore a more personal music, inspired by the events I have experienced and the trials I have gone through. I composed the pieces Love, sadness, and Les Alpes, which are being realized for the first time on this album. At that time, one person in particular caught my eye. Cyril, a young drummer at first and then later a trombonist, already had a maturity and a strong talent. He had made arrangements for the conservatory's big band, and we had the opportunity to play together many times.
During a jam session at Duc des Lombards in 2017, we had the chance to share the stage with the musicians of Ahmad Jamal. This moment was unforgettable and acted as a trigger: it was time for us to start a serious project together. I then decided to entrust my music to Cyril with the task of arranging it for sextet.
I am happy that he has thus enhanced my compositions, remaining true to this very modal music and necessarily a bit Coltrane-like, while adding his personal touch. This blend of our two influences in the same project, like the two levels of a TGV Duplex, transcends the music, traverses the landscapes, and offers an original universe that I invite you to discover.
