Concerto pour flûte et harpe - Andante en ut majeur

Description

In 1777, the young Mozart, accompanied by his mother, embarked on a journey to Mannheim, one of the most illustrious musical centers in Europe. The city, teeming with exceptional musicians and patrons, offered Mozart the ideal environment to advance his career and expand his artistic network, and it was here that he met the Weber sisters, notably Constance, who would later become his muse and wife. His stay in Mannheim inspired several masterpieces, including the sublime "Vorrei Spiegarvi, oh Dio," dedicated to Aloysia Weber, but this period was also marked by significant collaborations with Mozart. Among these, his meeting with the flutist Ferdinand Dejean, for whom he composed a series of concertos and quartets for flute. The Andante in C major and the Rondo, originally for violin, were masterfully transcribed for the flute, demonstrating Mozart's unparalleled ability to adapt vocal lines to achieve instrumental brilliance. Mozart's journey continued to Paris, where he composed the iconic Concerto for Flute and Harp, K. 299, a pinnacle of lyrical and symphonic beauty. However, his stay in Paris was marked by a personal tragedy—the death of his mother, Anna Maria—which left an indelible impact on his life and art. This new album by French flutist Julien Beaudiment draws inspiration from a pivotal chapter in Mozart's life, blending instrumental textures to evoke the emotional depth and virtuosity of his compositions. In collaboration with the Orchestre de l'Opéra National de Lyon, the album captures the essence of Mozart's genius, from the melancholic tones of the 6 Variations on "Hélas, j'ai perdu mon amant" to the lively exchanges between harp and flute.
