Julian Marley, the reggae legacy in the spotlight. Like his father, reggae pioneer Bob Marley, and several of his brothers and sisters before him, Julian Marley chose the path of music, becoming a key figure in reggae as a singer, songwriter, producer, and collaborator. Mastering several instruments from a young age, Julian worked with his brothers Damian, Stephen, and Ky-Mani Marley within the Ghetto Youths Crew collective, before releasing his first solo album, Lion in the Morning, in 1996. He then toured internationally, both with his band The Uprising and as part of various family projects related to the Marleys. His solo career gained new momentum in 2009 with the highly acclaimed album Awake. Released under the Universal and Ghetto Youths United labels, the family label, Awake proved to be a decisive album for Julian, winning Album of the Year at the International Reggae and World Music Awards and earning a Grammy nomination in the Best Reggae Album category.
