Musical tribute to Matisse's painting by a composer to discover: Sergei Akhunov!When composer Sergei Akhunov discovers Jazz, Henri Matisse's collection of illustrations, he is struck by the almost surreal collages that make it up, and knows he will turn it into something. This inspiration takes shape with a commission from the brilliant keyboardist Maxim Emelyanychev and violinist Julia Igonina. Thus Jazz is born, a cycle for violin and piano whose fifteen miniatures (unrelated to the eponymous musical genre) take the titles of Matisse's collages. On this unprecedented recording, these pieces meet the works of Messiaen and Poulenc (of whom Matisse was the favorite painter), to which Maxim Emelyanychev and Julia Igonina give, thanks to the sound of period instruments, a magnificent Blüthner 1908 piano (collection of the Rybinsk Piano Museum) and the gut strings of the violin, a striking relief.
