40 Acres N Sum Mula

Description

Berlin rapper Juju Rogers presents his highly anticipated second album, 40 Acres N Sum Mula, featuring a collaboration with the very popular Sampa the Great and productions by Farhot (Isaiah Rashad, Talib Kweli), Like (the producer behind Kendrick Lamar's "Sing About Me"), Crada (Drake, Kid Cudi), and more... He has come a long way since his widely acclaimed debut album From The Life of A Good For Nothing, accompanying DMV veteran Oddisee on his European tour, becoming the second artist to participate in a COLORS session, and successfully collaborating with Bluestaeb on LIT - Lost In Translation. To return to the forefront of the scene, Juju Rogers has once again teamed up with Jakarta Records with "40 Acres N Sum Mula," his highly anticipated second album full of bangers. Juju Rogers on the title of his album: "40 Acres N Sum Mula (16 hectares and a mule) refers to Special Field Orders No. 15, a promise made by the US government for land reform aimed at helping Black farmers, former slaves. Approved by President Abraham Lincoln, the field requests were written in 1865, and each family was specifically allotted a plot of 40 acres (16 hectares) plus a mule for the land reform effort. I changed a mule to sum Mula in order to recontextualize the legitimate struggle for equal rights and reparations within our current capitalist world and highlight the historical connection to the beginnings of today's society." The sound, lyrics, and vibes of this album represent a mix of ancestral spirits, old-school influences, and contemporary characteristics, guiding us through the reflection and rebellious thoughts of a man born and raised in "Germoney" as he likes to call it.
