Winners of the prestigious BBC Folk Awards, the hitherto little-known duo Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker are determined to change that with their debut album on the Rough Trade label, titled Overnight.
After receiving much praise for two self-produced albums and touring the length and breadth of the UK, the British duo captivates with Josienne's angelic voice and Ben's delicate compositions. Both cite Sandy Denny, June Tabor, and Nic Jones as their main influences, yet they have managed to distance themselves from these to create their own musical universe. Their nostalgia-laden songs seem to have emerged from an older time with a certain touch of modernity that should appeal to fans of the genre.
