Sonates pour piano, intégrale

Description

His recordings of the concertos by Moszkowski and Grieg have allowed Joseph Moog to reveal himself as one of the young virtuosos of the moment. He is now turning to Chopin, of whom he has recorded the complete Sonatas. The first of them is rarely played. It reveals a young composer still untouched by the influences of Beethoven, Hummel, Field, Kalkbrenner, and their contemporaries, but who is nonetheless indebted to Mozart and the Classics. When he writes his second sonata, Chopin has assimilated the Romanticism of Hummel and Field and has already developed his own musical palette. The slow movement, the Funeral March, is indeed considered a pinnacle of music. The third sonata is a masterpiece, one of the most famous piano pieces of the 19th century. Written at the end of his very short life, it contains all the genius of Chopin.
