Joseph Martone is an Italian-American singer-songwriter who draws on the sounds and rhythms of these two environments and cultures to create his own musical style. Unique, particular, and aesthetic, Joseph Martone captures the soul and heart. Here are sincere and often painful exploits from his childhood and adolescence between Italy and the United States, depicting his extraordinary life and featuring a colorful cast of characters who contributed to his narrative. In his lyrics, intertwined are songs of love, pain, family, friendship, betrayal, time, and memory. The musical universe evokes the soundtracks of David Lynch, Jim Jarmusch... There is a poignant cinematic staging in Joseph Martone's music. For his debut album, Honeybirds, Martone enlisted Canadian musician Taylor Kirk (Timber Timbre) for production. One can say, what a production!!! The album was recorded in Naples and Montreal with the best musicians, engineers, and long-time collaborators and co-authors Ned Crowther (The Fernweh, Smokey Angle Shades). The themes and sounds of the record have given a darker and more reflective direction to his previous concerts, with Kirk providing a majestic and broad scale to Martone's work, adding a certain emotional weight to the songs.
