Miroirs

Description

Joseph Kamel is a 27-year-old Franco-Egyptian singer-songwriter. In the footsteps of his elders from the Nouvelle Scène Française (Ben Mazué, Jeremy Frérot, Grand Corps Malade), his music reflects his voice: powerful, generous, and inspiring. He has notably stood out on the show The Artist on France 2, as the opening act for Julien Doré’s Zénith shows, and in Spotify’s 2023 Radar selection. His debut album Miroirs will be released on October 27, led by his single Celui qui part. Born in Egypt to an Egyptian father who is an international consultant and a French mother who is a humanitarian doctor, Joseph spent the first years of his life with his brother in an apartment in Cairo where albums by Supertramp, Tracy Chapman, and vinyl records by Abdel Wahab and Fairuz coexisted. Between the piano and the oud (a traditional Eastern instrument), he began playing music at the age of 8 and quickly discovered production, and the full extent of his talent emerged. His debut album Miroirs is a collection of stories, futures, and origins in which he tells his own story. With his distinctive voice, Joseph reveals his reality and emotions through song and takes us into his memories. From Caen to the bustling hive of Cairo, in an organized disorder, the breakups and questions that shape his life come to light. This album reflects the human relationships experienced or observed by the artist: the fear of saying goodbye, the beautiful, the less beautiful, the importance of image in society, and our eternal search for truth.
