Verdi has accompanied Joseph Calleja since the very beginning of his career. He made his debut in the role of Macduff (Macbeth) when he was only 19 years old. Two decades of experience later, he dedicates his album to the composer, of whom his age, 40 years, makes him the ideal interpreter of these tormented heroes. The roles that Calleja has chosen to sing here are not part of those he has already sung in the theater, but we can expect to see him tackle them over the next ten years. In this album, he invites soprano Angela Gheorghiu on two arias and baritone Vittorio Vitelli on three. They are accompanied by Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana under the direction of Ramón Tebar.
