The return of an exceptional lutenist, Jose Miguel Moreno. Given his long absence, we are happy to announce, just after his recent album dedicated to David Kellner, the return to recording of this artist with extraordinary musical intelligence: José Miguel Moreno. We find ourselves once again on unknown ground - German and Czech music from the early 18th century - where Moreno, who plays a 11-course lute built by his own hands, is an ideal guide. 1724 is the year of the publication, in Frankfurt on the Oder, of the Neue Lauten Stücke by a certain Johann Gottfried Conradi, probably a descendant of a remarkable lineage of German composers of the time. And 1721, the year of the death of the aristocrat Jan Antonin Losy, a lutenist from Bohemia admired by his contemporaries (among whom, the immense Silvius Leopold Weiss, who dedicated a moving Tombeau to him). The works that have survived from these two personalities, barely known in the baroque solo lute musical tradition, are not numerous; but José Miguel Moreno presents three exemplary suites, rich in improvised preludes and high-quality dance movements (courantes, gigues, sarabandes, menuets...), and demonstrates not only that Conradi and Losy were imbued with influences from France and Italy, but also evokes the inner rhetoric of this music, through his exuberant and inimitable interpretation.
