The brain of Iced Earth, Jon Schaffer, teamed up with the original singer of Purgatory, Gene Adams (also on vocals on the first Iced Earth album), Mark Prator (drummer of Iced Earth on "The Dark Saga"), Jim Morris (owner of the famous Morrisound Studios), as well as Bill Owen and Ruben Drake to re-record five tracks from "Purgatory" written in 1985/1986.
